Partner Agencies

The New York State Department of Labor Division of Employment Services works with the public and private sectors to create job opportunities, offer job fairs, help workers find jobs and help businesses find skilled workers. The Division of Unemployment Insurance administers the program providing temporary income for eligible workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. Veteran’s Employment Representatives offer priority services to veterans of military service.

The Long Island Regional Adult Education Network (LI_RAEN) services adult literacy program needs through Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and works with other public agencies within the local workforce development system to address emerging, transitional, and incumbent works’ literacy needs.

Mature Worker Program of Urban League
Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the Mature Worker Program is a workforce development program that provides subsidized, service-based training for low-income, unemployed persons 55 or older. The goal of the program is to provide workers with on-the-job training to help them develop the skills and confidence to find unsubsidized employment. Participants are placed in a variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities.

Nassau County Department of Social Services
The mission of the Department of Social Services is to provide financial assistance and supportive services to eligible individuals and families in Nassau County, consistent with Federal and State laws. Specifically, the Department is responsible to: Provide aid to eligible recipients through the Family Assistance, Safety Net, Day Care, Employment, Food Stamp, Medicaid and Home Energy Assistance Programs; Establish an initial child support obligation of a legally responsible individual through the Family Court, collect support payments, enforce and modify existing support orders; Protect children, adults and families by enforcing mandates of New York State Social Services Law; Provide secure detention for youths at the Nassau County Juvenile Detention Center whose cases are awaiting disposition in Family, District or County courts.

ACCES-VR promotes educational equity and excellence for students with disabilities. ACCES-VR provides continuity between the child and adult services systems, provides vocational rehabilitation and also provides independent living services.

Nassau Community College
Nassau Community College is the largest two-year college in New York, offering a comprehensive range of programs for all types of interests: programs to prepare students to transfer to a university; programs in a variety of occupational subjects; programs of general interest; programs specifically designed for the needs of older adults; and support services and resources to assist students in achieving their goals.

Hicksville Youth Council Boys and Girls Club
The Boys and Girls Club is a community based youth organization, providing programs and services that promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Port Washington Community Action Council
Port Washington Community Action Council is a community based agency which provides human services to various segments of the population including economically disadvantaged youth and displaced homemakers.
