Eligible Training Providers

The Town of Oyster Bay Town of North Hempstead and City Of Glen Cove Workforce Development Board (WDB) provides clients with quality training opportunities. Training is intended to address the demand occupational priorities of the area and be consistent with the interests and aptitudes of eligible clients. All training services are provided through eligible providers authorized and approved by WDB.

Any agency that would like to train job seekers under WIOA adult, dislocated worker, and older youth funding must be approved as a qualified, legitimate training provider prior to delivery of the training. Customized training, on‐the‐job training, and other training exceptions are not covered under this process.

Criteria used by WDB to determine a training agency’s qualifications and eligibility includes but is not limited to:

  • Complete description of the training programs.
  • Performance information addresses:
    • Completion rates for individuals participating in the program;
    • Percent of individuals who obtain unsubsidized employment; and
    • Wages at placement.
  • Performance is for the most recent 12-month period.
  • The training agency has not violated any conditions of WIOA.

Training providers may additionally need to obtain approval or accreditation of their training programs in accordance with the New York State Education department;  http://www.nysed.gov/ and or other accrediting agencies. Once a training agency has obtained certification from WDB, the organization and programs will be added to the New York State List of Eligible Training Providers at https://applications.labor.ny.gov/ETPL/.  This list includes occupational programs offered by four-year colleges and universities, technical colleges, private career schools and other training providers.
