The Workforce New York Career Centers have knowledgeable and courteous Career Specialists on hand that are available to assess your background, help you identify transferable skills, answer questions and accelerate the process of creating your job search plan. The Career Centers are designed to assist you with your employment goals and career specialists are available to answer any questions you may have.
The centers offer various focus groups, workshops and seminars covering a wide variety of topics ranging from resume writing, interviewing, and job search techniques to transitional skills and stress management.
Computer skills play an ever-increasing role in the employability of workers. Many of today’s jobs require a working knowledge of the computer. The career centers provide workshops to assist you with acquiring and/or updating your computer skills. Computer workshops are conducted in our modern computer labs on-site.
Each of the Career Centers have resource rooms that are user-friendly and provide a professional environment away from home in which to conduct your job search. Each room has fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, job listings, videos, and numerous periodicals available to assist you. In addition, the resource rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art computer workstations that contain Microsoft software and have Internet access.
Below is a full description of available services and resources at the Workforce Partnership Career Centers:
Computer Workstations:
Personal computers are available for you to use in our Centers. Each PC is in its own private workstation for job search purposes. The computers are equipped with internet and access to the following programs:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft Outlook
The workstations also contain:
- Win Way Resume is available to assist you with creating a winning resume. Win Way allows you to select from thousands of customizable resumes for virtually every career and over 100,000 job-winning phrases.
- Mavis Beacon teaches typing skills, which will assist you with typing better, e-mailing faster, and working smarter. We will provide you with a diskette for you to save your work for the next session.
Counseling
As a job-seeking customer of the Workforce Partnership, you can have a career specialist assigned to assist you. Although the Centers are designed to facilitate with a self-directed job search you may have questions that you would like to discuss with an advisor. You may make an appointment to see a career specialist to discuss your search and/or make a job search plan.
Labor Service Representatives from the New York State Department of Labor are located at both Centers and will happily provide assistance with “America’s Job Bank” and any questions you may have concerning Unemployment Insurance Benefits.
Focus Groups and Workshops
Focus groups and workshops are offered on a regularly scheduled basis at each Career Center. Each session, under the guidance of an expert Facilitator, offers an opportunity to explore various topics, which are of interest and benefit to Job Seekers. Reservations are required and your counselor will review the process for being registered.
Job Banks
We maintain job listings for both private sector and civil service jobs. These listings are updated on a regular basis. Included in the listings are those for “America’s Job Bank” which is maintained by the New York State Department of Labor.

The Workforce Partnership maintains an ever-growing library of different resources that will help you in your job search. Please let us know if there are any materials that you would like made available and we will make every effort to obtain them.
Telephones
Telephones are available for calling prospective employers anywhere in the continental United States as well as Department of Labor if needed.
TTY & Special PC
Special job search accommodations are available for customers with vision and hearing impairments.
